Tonic does have a higher level of sodium than most mixers but the lack of sugar in gin means you are more likely to recover hangover free in the morning!

Yes it might sound like a Contiki boat tour from 1980 but we assure you this is your new best friend.
Vodka, fresh grapefruit juice and cranberry juice the retro cocktail classic sure does pack a punch. Extensive research has proven that vodka is the best choice of liquor to avoid a hangover. And on the plus side it is often served with a fancy umbrella!
3. Vodka and Soda.
Again, vodka, need we say more. Lower in calories when mixed with soda water, the combination of ice and soda will keep you more hydrated than when you add sugary mixers.
James Bond preferred his ’shaken not stirred’, and if the uber stylish martini is good enough for 007, then it’s good enough for us!
The classic gin or vodka martini contains virtually no sugar is perfect for sipping on.
5. Tom Collins.
Well doesn’t this sound fancy? In reality it is just gin, lemon juice, carbonated water and a pinch of sugar.
The main secret to avoiding a hangover is avoiding caffeinated mixers, keep the sugar content to a minimum and also to pace yourself!
