‘There was, if you don’t want to describe it as that, but a pack mentality.’
Many people had rushed from McDonald’s and the surrounding streets into the medical centre to seek refuge from the girls, but found themselves trapped there when ‘the pack’ came into the premises.
‘They just rampaged in, pretty much, and the receptionist lady was obviously trying to move her out, and that's when the girls just started punching her in the face,’ Caitlin Gahleitner, who watched the incident unfold, told 9 News.
‘It happens quite regularly, and security are limited as to what they can do. It’s happening a lot.’
Another local woman told Community News that her mum had been a patient at the medical centre when called her daughter during the choas.
Over the phone she said she heard, ’yelling and screaming and chaos in the background and my mum crying my name saying help’.
She said inside the medical centre, a receptionist was ‘repeatedly punched - leading her to ask ‘What the hell is the world coming to?’
Seven girls have now been arrested over the incident.
The incident follows a shocking ordeal on the Gold Coast last week, when two nine-year-old girls were filmed abusing fellow shoppers and attacking cars. See the video HERE.
