She writes: ‘Ham and cheese pastries! Really simple basic recipe for a quick breakfast or school lunchboxes ...’
Angela reveals that she uses just three Aldi ingredients in the recipe - frozen puff pastry, sliced tasty cheese and slices of leg ham.
To make them, Angela starts by cutting a sheet of puff pastry into four equal squares. She then moves each square on an angle to create a diamond shape, before placing slice of cheese in the centre and then a slice of ham on top. Angela then folds over the two corners to the centre to create a parcel - then just bakes in a moderate oven until golden brown!
She adds: ‘I’ve only made them fresh but I’m going to try freezing them . They should be fine as I freeze sausages rolls and my kids eat them cold at school and are happy ! Having them fresh is pretty good though because the pastry is flaky and crisp 😋’
It wasn’t long before the recipe went viral, with many comparing the ham and cheese pastries to those available at Baker’s Delight - which are a favourite for many kids across the country.
‘Omg....I need to try this one.. my daughter loves Bakers Delight ham/cheese danish at $3.70 a piece... I’m gonna save da $$$$,’ says one.
Adds another: ‘Ooh good idea. Going to try some now for kids lunch.’
Said a third: ‘Great idea. They look delicious. Going to try these!’
Said one more: ‘My kids love these from the bakery. Gonna save me so much money!’
