Says Emily: ‘I have an inspection today and I had been dreading cleaning my oven. Yesterday I tried oven cleaner and wasn’t happy, felt like it wasn’t doing anything! (Tried hot and cold oven!)
‘Then I looked at my sink and thought I would give my detergent a go, it is grease cutting after all right? Warm water a squirt of Aldi dish soap and a sponge ... and my oven looks brand new!
‘I took the racks out and soaked them in hot water and soap and the build up wiped right off. (Tougher areas needed a little scrub) But it was the quickest, cheapest easiest oven clean Ive ever done. And best of all? No harmful chemicals and so cheap as I use it for my dishes anyway.
‘No more buying oven cleaner in this house!! Happy saving and cleaning!’
Genius! Not surprisingly, Emily’s hack got the big thumbs up from Markdown Addicts Australia’s other excited members.
‘Omg I’m moving house this weekend I’m so doing this,’ said one. Added another: ‘I've literally just finished cleaning my oven 5mims ago. I used two cans of oven cleaner and it still hasn't got all the crud off! And my oven is only 5 yrs old and is cleaned regularly.. It's just baked on stubborn grime. I was about to go to shops to buy something else. Im going to give this a go!’
Said one more: ‘I use that dishwashing liquid and warm water for cleaning almost everything now. It works better than spray cleaners and doesn't have an overpowering smell.’
