Angelina Jolie is nursing a bruised ego after her movie Maleficent: Mistress of Evil failed to make an impact at the box office during its opening week.

Her film’s failure comes after the mum-of-six admitted she is struggling to come to terms with her son, Maddox, 18, leaving home and moving to South Korea to attend university.
Ange, 44, has been suffering since her eldest son, who she shares with her ex husband Brad Pitt, left for college.
The Oscar-winning actress has had a hard time adjusting to life without Maddox and now feels she has “a huge hole in her life she needs to fill,” an insider recently told Radar.
Earlier this month, Ange and her son were photographed at the premiere of the Maleficent: Mistress Of Evil where Maddox gave his mum the moral support she needed as her new movie was released.
Her 14-year-old daughter Zahara was also at the event in Tokyo, Japan.
According to Deadline, the film was the number one movie this weekend in the US, but it failed to earn the $185m it cost to produce – it also received mixed reviews from critics.
Maleficent only earned $36m, 48 percent less than the $69.4m the original film made in its opening week back in 2014.
The response in China also wasn’t stellar, as the Sleeping Beauty spin-off only brought in an estimated $22.4m.
The movie will likely break even, but it’s unlikely it’ll be made into a third film.
The actress returned to her role as Maleficent after a four-year break from acting.
When asked about the transition back to acting, Angelina told People magazine that “It was a tough time.”
“I’d been coming off a few years of difficulty, and I was not feeling very strong. In fact, I was feeling pretty broken,” she said.
Adding: “It took me a moment to feel the strength of [Maleficent] again.”
According to The Daily Mail, Angelina’s divorce from Brad occurred during her four-year break from acting.
The Hollywood duo – who met on the set of Mr & Mrs. Smith and later starred in By The Sea together – were in a relationship for almost a decade.
Famously referred to as ‘Brangelina’ the former celebrity power-couple share six children together (Maddox, 18, Pax, 15, Zahara, 14, Shiloh, 13 and twins Knox and Vivienne, 11).
In 2016, Jolie filed for divorce after just two years of marriage, citing irreconcilable differences.
While the couple reached custody agreement over their children, they are still in the midst of sorting out their property and finances.
