Angelina Jolie has signed on to star in the adaptation of the novel, ‘The Kept’.
Jolie will also produce the thriller with Alice Birch.
Based on the 2014 James Scott novel, the story is set in the winter of 1897, and follows a trio of killers that descends upon an isolated farm in upstate New York. Midwife Elspeth Howell returns home to the carnage: her husband and four of her children, murdered. Before she can discover her remaining son Caleb, alive and hiding the kitchen pantry, another shot rings out over the snow-covered valley. Caleb, who is 12 years old, must tend to his mother until she recovers enough for them to take to the frozen wilderness in search of the men responsible.
Jolie just finished filming Maleficent 2 and is now filming Come Away opposite David Oyelowo. She also voiced one of the characters in Disney’s The One and Only Ivan.
The exciting news comes just days after New Idea exclusively revealed that Angelina was set to wed her British billionaire boyfriend.
A source told New Idea, ‘Ange’s new man has been desperate to prove his love and devotion to her and so suggested they have a ‘wedding ceremony’ last weekend.’
‘She was very cagey Hollywood actress has cause on the details but said it was a beautiful day, where they affirmed their love for one another in front of a celebrant and declared their commitment to each other.’
They add, ‘All the kids were there – and while it was a little hard for them to understand with the split from Brad still being so raw, Maddox and Pax especially were excited to see their mum so happy again. It took place at her new man’s LA mansion, in a garden surrounded by white flowers – Ange’s favourite.’
The timing couldn’t be more perfect for the mother-of-six.
With her costly custody battle said to be reportedly costing into the millions, not to mention the fact that she had to borrow $US8 million from Brad to buy her new home in LA last year, Ange ‘is desperate to get married as soon as she can’, the source continues.
‘She thinks she’s found a real winner in husband Number 4.
‘She’s impressed by his dedication to helping others and, quite frankly, by his huge bank account, which she knows will come in handy now that she no longer has Brad’s estimated $US240 million fortune … she really feels she’s hit the jackpot with her Englishman.’
