Apple Fritters With Cinnamon Sugar

You might think Granny Smiths are too tarty to eat alone, but fried and covered in cinnamon sugar, these apple fritters are a dream.

Ingredients

1 cup self-raising flour

2 Granny Smith apples

55 g cinnamon sugar

1 egg

1- 2 cups vegetable oil

Method

  1. Place 1 cup self-raising flour into a large bowl. Gradually whisk in egg and water until smooth.
  2. Peel and core apples. Cut each into six slices. Heat enough vegetable oil in a large, deep frying pan to shallow-fry, over a medium heat. Dip half the apple slices into batter until coated. Add to pan. Shallow-fry for about 
3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown.
  3. Drain on absorbent kitchen paper. Dust with cinnamon sugar. Repeat with remaining apple. Serve hot with ice-cream (optional).
