The one bad thing about air fryers you didn’t know

We all love an air fryer; that’s basically a fact by now. Considering the amount of time we've been spending at home in 2020, it’s an easy trend to get around.
They have a reasonable price tag, multiple uses, and not to mention they’re pretty easy to store. Best of all you can have homemade chips in no more than 15 minutes. Who could say no to that?
As in demand as they are, there’s also an increase in demand for new and interesting recipes to use your air fryer for. So far, the internet has been getting to work on some very creative ideas.
From pies, to Nutella cake, deep-fried ice-cream and yes even banana bread. No stone has been left unturned in the inventive world of air frying. There’s even a Facebook group called Kmart Air Frying Recipes.
However, there’s been some doubt circulating as of late about whether air fryers are actually good for you. So, if you’re wondering what that one bad thing is, then here it is: the temptation.
While yes on one hand you should definitely learn to cook doughnuts in an air fryer. On the other hand, you probably shouldn’t? We’re not really sure, the temptation is too distracting.
Yet for a device created to be a healthy alternative to cooking in oil, we don’t think they had cruskit pizzas, in mind when they were designing the first model.
Several dieticians have come forward to criticise the adventurous cooking trends. Sydney-based dietitian Melissa Meier told news.com.au, “If you’re using your air fryer to whip up treats all day long, I’ve got some bad news. You see, a brownie is still a brownie, regardless of how it’s cooked.”
Instead, she advises that anyone looking to eat healthily should avoid baked goods. No matter how enticing, it’s best to opt for a healthy balance with vegetables and lean meats.
But with the potential of lockdowns re-occurring across the states, and with Melbourne already in its second, some air fry baking could be on the horizon. Especially if you missed out on the banana bread craze last time.
