Just last week, we revealed how Kmart Pie Maker fans had come up with the ingenious idea of making Vanilla Slice Pies in the awesome $29 gadget.
So simple and with just two ingredients - puff pastry and Cottee’s Instant Vanilla Pudding Mix - they look and taste absolutely amazing. The idea was first created by home chef Dianne at the awesome Kmart Pie Maker Recipes, Tips and Ideas Australia Facebook group, prompting thousands around the country to follow her lead.
The Kmart Pie Makers group has been inundated with members sharing their snaps of their own Vanilla Slice Pie creations - including this epic version, pictured above, by Kmart Pie Makers member Barbara.
But now one other member has revealed her clever trick for getting the perfect Vanilla Slice Pie every time. While some home chefs have had trouble overfilling the pics, Vanessa has revealed her hack for measuring out the right amount of vanilla mix every time.
She writes: ‘I’m currently making the vanilla pies....for the perfect amount of custard per pie, I use an ice cream scoop.’

Genius! Other pie maker fans on the group have also been discussing whether the pies freeze well - and it’s been given the big thumbs up.
Said Vanilla Slice Pie creator Dianne: ‘They freeze fine you could always pop them back in pie maker for a bit to crisp them up a bit after they are defrosted.’
Said another: ‘They’ve never lasted long enough for me to try. Sorry!’
