Well during a discussion over whether Coles or Woolworths has the cheapest groceries at Markdown Addicts Australia’s amazing Facebook page, one savvy shopper offered her top tip to getting the cheapest groceries every time.
And the best part? Everyone can do it.
While debating which major supermarket was the best for bargains, one awesome Markdown Addicts Australia follower suggested that shopping after 5pm was the surefire way to get bargain grocery buys.
‘End of the day is better [for bargains],’ the shopper revealed. ‘After 5pm I find.’
Yep, it’s as simple as heading to your favourite supermarket after 5pm, when markdowns are most likely happen to make way for new stock. Love it!
As for the bargain hunters’ opinions on whether Coles or Woolies had the best bargains, the shoppers remained very much divided.
While some believed that Coles had more markdowns, others believed Woolworths had more half price offerings. But they all agree that it depends on the location of the store and the day you go shopping - and that you should ALWAYS do your research first.
‘Get both catalogues and compare, then go shopping at both,’ says one Markdown Addict. Adds another ‘Don’t forget Aldi and IGA - I always check all catalogues first!’
