She writes: ‘Just finished making my custard tart looks good.’
It most definitely does! Sharing her recipe for the mega custard tart, TraceyAnne says makes the crust by combining 1 1/2 cups plain flour, 1/3 cup icing sugar and 125 g real butter in a bowl and mixing until it ‘looks like bread crumbs.’
She then adds 1 egg yolk and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla essence and mixes it together until it starts ‘to come together into a dough.’
TraceyAnne then rolls it out to the shape of the pie maker and turns on the heat, cooking it for 15 minutes. The clever home cook then just adds Vanilla Pudding Mix - available from your local supermarket - which has been cooked to packet instructions, then tops with sprinkles of cinnamon. Voila!
But a word of warning: ‘I have noticed you need to make sure the pie is cold when you go to take it out of the pie maker as the crust needs to harden up it’s a bit crumbly otherwise.’
Good to know! The mega custard tart received the big thumbs up from the other Pie Maker fans on the Facebook page, with hundreds cheering TraceyAnne on.
‘Wow that looks fantastic,’ said one. Added another: ‘Just drop it off at my place thanks!’
And the best part? TraceyAnne says: ‘Omg it tastes bloody great!’
