Barbara Northwood
Food Director
Barbara Northwood is currently the food director of New Idea Food. Having obtained an Advanced Diploma in Home Economics, she enhanced her cooking skills by attending courses at La Varenne, Paris.
After 25 years as deputy food editor and food editor of major Australian women’s magazines, Barbara was the founder of the New Idea test kitchen which develops, tests and shoots recipes for New Idea Food. Over the years, she has prepared and edited many cookbooks, conducted numerous cooking demonstrations on television and is currently a regular on The Morning Show. Barbara is also co-host of Trolley Watch, New Idea Food’s podcast for people who love food shopping and cooking and promotes it with a regular spot on radio.
Barbara’s travelling on extensive food adventures in Australia and overseas continue to inspire her love of cooking for family and friends. When not in the kitchen, she loves nothing more than attending to her garden, visiting farmers markets and local wineries!!!!
