It’s the toy sale catalogue that Australia’s been waiting for - Big W’s annual Toy Mania Sale.
But with the bargain chain store releasing their first sneak peek of the bargains on offer this afternoon, it seems some shoppers aren't as blown away with the markdowns on offer as Big W bosses may have hoped.
Venting their frustrations on social media, some shoppers have voiced their unhappiness with the reductions on offer, with one saying: ‘They call this a sale?!’
The discussion started after one bargain hunter took to a closed Facebook group to ask: ‘Anybody else disappointed in the Big W toy sale catalogue? Feel like there isn't much of a saving like other years.’
It started off a wave of comments from disgruntled Big W shoppers, who agreed the new catalogue was a let down.
‘The past couple of years have been better,’ said one. Added another: ‘Yup, it's terrible this year.’
Said a third: ‘Better off at Kmart for some of the items even without the sale.’ Added one more: ‘Not much of a discount better of at Kmart more value for $$$.’
Said another: ‘I agree I’m not happy but not only price but choice.’ Added one more: ‘Not much on there that I'd buy. I got that Jurassic Park Trex for $19 at Target the other day.’
However other shoppers attempted to see the brighter side of it, suggesting that the markdowns might not be huge - but still make a difference.
‘Most things only $10 cheaper :(,’ she wrote. ‘Guess it adds up tho.’ Said another: ‘A markdown is a markdown, I’m not complaining!’
True that! It’s also worth keeping in mind that these are just the preview catalogues and there could be bigger markdowns on the way. To check out today’s catalogues for yourself, head here!
