But while some would clearly be opposed to the move given the recent backlash, there are other hot cross fan addicts who’d welcome the move. In fact, Reddit has been alive with comments from those supporting the 365-day hot cross bun drive.
‘Should be sold year round, IMO,’ wrote one. Another agreed, saying: ‘No debate necessary, [you] hath spoken the truth and I'll fight anyone who disagrees.’
Added another: ‘I've dreamed of this day. Hot cross buns for Xmas morning.’
And one more: ‘Yas awesome news! Its always hard to part with then once easter ends. End up having to buy the Pannetones as "replacement".’
But one baker has spoken out against the move, saying that it will make hot cross buns less special.
‘There seems to be increase in demand for them year on year,’ Paul McGrath, group executive chef at Sydney’s The Grounds of Alexandria tells Whimn. ‘While I do personally really love the humble hot cross bun and the excitement that comes with the festivity of the Easter season, I really think it has remained to special because it is only available for Easter. And I'd like to see it stay that way.’
Hmmmmm. Which side of the hot cross bun fence are YOU on?
