In recent months, we’ve seen lots of of budget Aussie wines win gold medals at various competitions - beating many drops five and 10 times the price.
Well now it seems ANOTHER extremely popular $8 Aussie Moscato has received another sought-after honour, proving that you don’t have to spend big bucks to enjoy a nice glass of wine.
Leading US wine expert Dave McIntyre named Australia’s Yellow Tail Moscato as his top budget moscato buy, after tasting a raft of various bottles from around the world.
And while almost all of the bottles he sampled were ‘truly awful’ he had glowing reviews for Australia’s Yellowtail - which retails for between $8 and $10 from Liquorland, BWS and First Choice Liquor.
Writes Dave: ‘I did have one very pleasant surprise, and it came from a mass-produced label I never thought I’d mention favourably in this column.
‘From Australia, Yellow Tail Moscato apparently is new (at least, it’s labeled “NEW!”), and it is quite clean and tasty, with bright, refreshing fizz and just enough sweetness to support its fruit.
‘It doesn’t really taste like moscato d’Asti: It’s more tropical, with mango and durian flavours. But ... it is hands down the best cheap moscato available.
‘So if you want to try moscato and you’re on a tight budget, try the Yellow Tail.’
We just might do that, Dave! Thanks for the tip ...
