2 cups frozen mixed berries (280g)
1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
1 ¾ cups quick oats
1 cup self-raising flour
175g unsalted butter, melted
Invert the base of a 22cm springform pan (base measures 21cm. Lightly grease base and side of pan.
Cut any large berries into smaller pieces so all the berries are about the same size. Place berries in a medium bowl. Add ¼ cup of the sugar, firmly packed and ¼ cup of the oats. Toss to coat.
Place flour in a large bowl. Stir in remaining brown sugar and oats. Add butter. Stir until well combined. Press two-thirds of the mixture evenly over base and 2cm up the side of prepared pan.
Scatter berry mixture over the base. Sprinkle over the remaining oat mixture. Press down lightly with fingertips. Place pan on an oven tray.
Cook in a moderate oven (180C) for about 30 to 35 minutes, or until golden brown. Remove. Stand in pan for 20 minutes.
To serve, remove side of pan. Transfer pie to a plate. Serve warm with cream (optional).
