Since it was leaked online that Cadbury Caramilk was coming back to our supermarket shelves shoppers have gone nuts with excitement.
With numerous shoppers unable to find the coveted chocolate there is officially a Caramilk shortage.
The last time Caramilk was on our supermarket shelves there was an outright frenzy of shoppers bulk buying blocks.
Some stores even had to place a limit on just how many blocks you could buy, restricting customers to purchasing just two blocks at a time.
Woolworths supermarket have Cadbury chocolate blocks on sale this week for just $3, including Caramilk. The demand for Caramilk combined with the hugely reduced price has lead to a Caramilk drought.
“I went to four Woolies stores today and I’m about to try my fifth”, reported one disappointed shopper to New Idea Food.
“Where is all the Caramilk?!?”, they added.
Caramilk fan pages on Facebook are also commenting that they have not seen the chocolate treat on shelves for days.
“It’s just greedy, people are clearly stocking up leaving none for the rest of us”, said one.
“This is absolute bullsh*t, I seen heaps oneBay today, money sucking grubs”, posted another.
It is indeed true, there are numerous eBay postings for Caramilk already. One savvy seller is asking $1250 for just 25 blocks!!
Another is selling 20 blocks for $999!
Shoppers are right to fear there will be block limits placed in stores soon.
But in a shock twist, Coles supermarket seems to have an abundance of Caramilk, at the regular shelf price of $4.80 a block.
If you were considering parting with a huge amount of cash to bag some Caramilk, you might want to check your local Coles store first.
