A NSW shopper has revealed how she found herself embroiled in a product recall mystery at her local Coles.
Speaking to New Idea Food, shopper Sharon says an alert came up when she was buying Cold Power laundry detergent - prompting the cashier to suspect that there’d been a product recall on the item.
She goes on to say that the Coles cashier - working at their Helensburgh NSW store - had to check the item’s barcode and eventually speak to two managers before proceeding with the sale, leading to much confusion and delay.
Says Sharon: ‘I love my Cold Power and I was buying it at my local Coles when an alert came up after the checkout cashier scanned it.
‘It immediately locked up her system and she had to press a button to acknowledge the alert, then study the barcode.
‘She told me this usually happens when there’s a product recall, so she was a little confused. In the end I was fine to buy it, but it took two managers to sort it out and it was definitely very bizarre. I was desperate, I had no Cold Power left at home.
‘I came home and Googled and couldn’t find any product recall information, so I’m wondering if it was a mistake?’
New Idea Food has checked with Cold Power Customer Service and it indeed appears to be a glitch, with a representative confirming that there are ‘no product recalls currently active on this product.’
Good to know - and great news for Sharon. ‘I love my Cold Power!’ she says.
