A regular Coles shopper has taken to Facebook to voice her ‘disappointment’, claiming she was ordered to leave her local store after a shock altercation with a staff member.
Perth mum Sophia - who shops at the Fremantle store two to three times a week - says she was busy buying food for her baby when the ‘harassment’ took place.
She writes: ‘I am a regular who normally goes to Fremantle Coles around two to three times weekly. I am also a mother who purchases baby foods and products for my kid and get my grocery shopping sorted out there.
‘I enjoyed my shopping in this store UNTIL a harassment from a female staff. I strongly believe there is a racial discrimination in this store. I was grabbing some baby food for my child, however she came towards me and asked me to leave the store and also said to me that I am not allowed to purchase goods because I am Chinese which [I’m] not. (I am Asian, but not Chinese).’
The mum went on to claim that the altercation then stepped up a notch, when the staff member manhandled her trolley.
‘Afterwards, she literally snatched my trolley and push it away from me to other side as there are still the goods, my own bag and my personal stuff in that trolley and asked me leave!’ Sophia says.
She adds: ‘I seriously got offended by her action and her words ... What a disappointment! Shame on her! Shame on this store!!’
Coles responded to Sophia via direct message on Facebook. New Idea Food has reached out to Coles for comment.
