A Coles shopper has taken to social media to voice her outrage over a range of ‘sexist’ chocolate bars.
The customer, named Cara, says she was ‘genuinely taken aback’ to see a range of chocolate bars aimed at the different sexes, with ‘The Man Bar’ advertised as ‘a healthy man-sized snack’ and ‘The Lady Bar’ described as a ‘guilt-free snack’.
Writes Cara: ‘Genuinely taken aback by the totally tone deaf marketing of these bars (stocked by Coles).
‘The Man Bar’ is a ‘man sized snack’ (whatever that means cause as far as I’m aware men come in various shapes, sizes and appetites), and the ‘Lady Bar’ is a ‘guilt free snack’ because obviously we should all be racked with guilt every time we raise a morsel of nutrition to our lips lest it spend a lifetime on our hips. Get in the sea.’
Cara’s post sparked a wave of support from fellow social media users, who were just as outraged by the chocolate bars.
‘I wonder what will happen to us if we dare to eat the man one? [Just kidding] - we probs can't even open it with our weak, guilt-ridden lady hands,’ said one.
Added another: ‘So sexist. Outrageous.’
‘Absolute rubbish. They’ve been around for s few years now and infuriate me every time I see them,’ said a third.
Added one more: ‘Omfg 🤦♀️😑 seriously??? 😡we should all write letters of complaint and get them taken off the shelves. It’s 2019 ffs!’
Said another: ‘What the actual f. None of my snacks are guilty. They are all guilt free. Automatically. Coz I want it.’
