A Coles customers has issued a warning to other shoppers, claiming that the free glasses he received in the supermarket’s recent promotion ‘exploded’ in his hand.
Shopper Justin shared a video of the carnage that the ‘cheap and nasty’ broken glass created when it ‘cracked and exploded’ on social media, which showed glass all over the ground and what appears to be blood in his hand.
Watch the shocking video here:
Posting on Coles supermarket’s Facebook page, he writes: 'Your Coles glasses are cheap and nasty... this is the 2nd cup I've had explode on me.
'One while washing the dishes and this one literally cracked and exploded in my hand.’
On the video, the caption also states: ‘Those Coles glasses are real quality ... shattered in my hand ...’
The glass giveaway was part of a recent promotion by Coles, where shoppers earned one ‘glassware credit’ for every $20 spent in store. Once they hit 25 credits, customers could collect a box of two Spiegelau glasses - choosing from wine glasses, champagne glasses and tumblers.
Responding to Justin’s post, a Coles representative said they would investigate the incident.
‘We're concerned to hear that this has happened and we hope you're okay,’ the spokesperson said. ‘We take the safety of our customers very seriously and we'd still like to follow this up further.’
