Announcing the new promotion in an email to Woolworths Rewards Members on Friday, Woolworths revealed: ‘Disney Words is coming soon, with 36 Disney and Pixar character tiles to collect. To kick start your collection, a limited edition Disney Words collector’s album is free* just for you from next week, as one of our valued Rewards members!’
Woolworths shopper Stacey revealed the email on the fabulous Markdown Addicts Australia Facebook page.
Woolworths have highlighted the new collectables’ educational value with the 36 tiles suitable for various word games. They have also noted the promotion’s environmental qualities, with paper wrappers and the tiles being made of tin-plated steel - which Woolworths claims both are recyclable.
This is in contrast to the Coles Little Shop and Stikeez ranges, which both received complaints for being mostly plastic and ‘not green.’
Earlier in the week, rumours started swirling of a new promotion after cryptic cardboard cutouts appeared around Woolies stores.
The cutouts - in the shape of Mickey Mouse - featured the words ‘The magic arrives on 27th Feb’ written across them.
The hype has clearly worked with many shoppers excited about the promotion. Others, meanwhile, commented on the rivalry brewing between Coles and Woolworths.
Says one: ‘They’re trying to get you to shop there instead of coles by having a better promotion at the same time lol.’
Added another: ‘I'm more excited for this then the Coles crap. I still have all the movie slides from their last Disney promotion.’
The promotion hits Woolworths stores next Wednesday. Watch this space!
