‘We are committed to doing the right thing by our team and will guarantee the redeployment of all current Calamvale team members to one of many neighbouring stores – whether they’re full time, part time or casual,’ the spokesperson told News Ltd.
Last April it was announced that 30 Big W stores would close amid declining profits. And while three Sydney stores have already shut their doors, this is the first Queensland Big W to be hit.
The Calamvale store closure was effective immediately, giving little notice to staff and shoppers.
‘We do not anticipate that any future store closures would be subject to such tight time frames,’ the spokesperson added. ‘We regret the short notice it gives to our team and community.’
