Says Twitter user Joanne: ‘Just at woolies asked young girl on checkout was she ok she said yesterday someone was screaming demanding a brand new trolly that wasn’t ‘infected with Coronavirus’ also another customer didn’t want her to touch the groceries & tried to get behind the checkout herself to scan.’
Another Aldi shopper revealed how another shopper ‘threw a tantrum’ when he was stopped from buying two packets of toilet paper, and then ‘nearly ran over people’ in the carpark.
‘I heard the bloke throw a tantrum like a three-year-old at the checkout over the toilet paper limits ... then two minutes later he came roaring out of the carpark and nearly ran over people. Unbelievable. It’s bloody toilet paper, mate.
In another incident, police were called to a huge brawl at Woolworths Bass Hill after two men started fighting - see footage below.
The claims come as more photos flood social media showing the extreme queues and unprecedented crowds as thousands hit supermarkets to bulk buy.
Other shoppers shared photos of aisles and meat sections which had been completely stripped bare.
Responding to claims of staff being treated poorly last week, a Woolworths spokesperson called for calm.
'We've found the vast majority of customers have been respectful towards our team members and we thank them for their patience and understanding,' the spokesperson said.
'Our team members are doing the very best they can to look after our customers, so please support them, and each other.'
