‘At Kmart, the health and safety or our team members and customers is our highest priority so as soon as we were made aware we closed the store immediately as a safety precaution and are commencing a thorough sanitisation of the store.
'We are taking advice from the department of health and will keep our team and customers updated.'
The news comes as Victoria announced a huge leap in coronavirus cases overnight, with the state’s tally skyrocketing to 917. The new cases include four babies, an alarming statistic for parents.
Dr Brett Sutton, Victoria's Chief Health Officer, said: 'Overwhelmingly for children, especially those nine years and younger, the illness of COVID-19 is very, very mild.
'And deaths are virtually unheard of. So, that should be a reassurance to any parent of young children.'
