The new shopping hour for emergency services and healthcare workers will be at the same time across the country on Tuesday and Thursday.
Woolworths have also announced new social distancing measures, including rotating staff every two hours to limit face-to face interactions.
Shoppers will also have to pack their own bags as a further protection measure and if the bag is not clean, Woolworths will replace it for free.
This comes as the supermarket rolled out plexiglass screens at the manned checkout and a store greeter to wipe down trolleys and baskets.
“Our social distancing measures have been well received by our customers and team members to date and we’re grateful for the community support of this important public health effort,” Woolworths Supermarkets Managing Director, Claire Peters said.
“Introducing additional measures such as packing your own bag and rotating our teams at checkouts every two hours will further support the health and wellbeing of everyone.”
