Woolworths say they’re now ‘moving to provide security guard coverage in every single store across the country’ and say that most stores already had security in place over the weekend.
Twitter users today have taken to social media to share stories of seeing security guards roaming the aisles. Said one user: ‘Wilson's security enforcing physical distance in the queue at Woolies.’
Added another: ‘Came across a security guard at Airlie Beach Woolies today. He gave me a fair up and down look when he spotted the 6 (small) cans of tuna in my trolley. I gave him a nod and thanked him for keeping stock on the shelves for our retired and poor folk. Well done @woolworths.’
Said a third on Facebook: 'Security guards roaming the aisles of my local Woolies today, keeping people in control with the hoarding.'
Says Claire Peters, Managing Director Woolworths Supermarkets: ‘As our team members continue providing for the community, we will do everything necessary to uphold public health and safety in our stores.
