Letting go of ice-cream can be the hardest thing when dairy is not your bag, especially when it comes to Ben & Jerry’s. Known for their extravagantly generous flavour combinations, the ice-cream giant became a swift favourite in Australia after its launch in 2011.
It’s so good, in fact, some of us striving for a plant-based lifestyle shamefully sneak a scoop from our housemate’s freezer stash, while others (like me) will simply put up with the stomach cramps and nausea brought on by old mate, lactose.
Well good news heartbroken ice-cream fans! Ben & Jerry’s have released not one, but four (!) certified vegan flavours of their famous ice-cream creations.
Ditching the moo juice in favour of almond milk, the new dairy-free range of flavours includes plant-based versions of their already popular Coconut Seven Layer Bar, Caramel Almond Brittle, and P.B and Cookies. Exclusive to the non-dairy range is Coffee Caramel Fudge, which promises ‘a rich taste of coffee, chock full of fudge chunks and a rich swirl of caramel.’
After the success of their non-dairy flavours in the UK and the US, Anthony Toovey, General Manager of Ice Cream (best job) for Unilever Australia and New Zealand, said they were delighted to be able to offer it in Australia.
"Ben & Jerry’s fans asked us and we heard them! Launching the Ben & Jerry’s Non-Dairy range in Australia now gives everyone the chance to enjoy our ice cream, no matter their dietary requirements, preference or taste. Our famous chunks and swirls are so indulgent and creamy, it’s easy to forget they are non-dairy!" he said.
Ben & Jerry’s Non-Dairy range is available now from 7/11 stores and Ben & Jerry’s Scoop Stores.
