Move over, hot cross buns. Hot cross bao is now a thing, thanks to Deliveroo.
This year has brought us news of so many twists on the classics, including hot cross bun gin and gin & tonic easter eggs, but this one takes the cake.
If you haven’t had bao before, you’re in for a treat – it’s a Chinese steamed bread roll with a filling of meat or vegies. Switch savoury for sweet (hello, chocolate!) and you have hot cross bao.
For this week only (26th March to 2nd April), Deliveroo is offering these Easter treats directly to your door. These creations will be available from five different restaurants around the country.
Hot Cross Bao restaurants include:
Wonderbao - “Hot X Bao”
Pachi Pachi - “Sweet Jesus Bao”
Tao Cafe - “Red Bean Nutella Bao”
BBQ Duck Kitchen - “Easter Mini Rabbit Bao”
50SIXONE - “Ferrero Rocher Steamed Coco Bun”
Unfortunately, here at Foodiful in Sydney, we’re going to miss out – so you’ll have to have one for us!
