Amy’s post has already attracted a huge reaction on Facebook, with everyone loving the cake fail. ‘That is gold,’ wrote one. Added another: ‘Hilarious!’
Even Woolies saw the lighter side of the fail, telling Amy that they were happy to provide a few laughs.
‘WOW Amy! We've got no words - you've left US blank! 🙈’ said a Woolworths spokesperson. ‘When our bakers say they'll follow all instructions, they 👏 literally 👏follow 👏 all 👏 instructions 👏.
‘We're glad our Mayfield team could provide you with a little giggle today, and we'll be sure to let them know. Also, we totally agree - this looks absolutely delicious! 😋😋.’
But there may be more to this than meets the eye, with one social media user claiming that the Woolworths bakers in question actually double checked that that’s what they wanted on the cake.
‘Major set up! Amanda took the order and questioned that they specifically wanted this written on it. I was there when they phoned in the order, she even asked what was the reason they wanted this written on the cake and they said because it’s funny.’
Amy responded that she wasn’t aware of the any set-up, but said it didn’t matter because it was all a bit of fun.
She adds: ‘Even if was a set up, it’s still pretty funny - thanks to Woollies for going along with the joke.’
