‘Her routine has really been thrown and trying to make sense of what the week is just blown to pieces for her. One of the big things she hangs her week on is her weekly shopping trip. So we can’t take her to the shops anymore, but what we thought we’d do is we’d open up a supermarket at home.’
Sharing a video of the incredibly heart-warming experience, it’s clear to see that Jason’s mum is absolutely tickled pink by the gesture - and she loves how the family brought Coles into their own lounge room.
The video has captured the hearts of staff at Jason’s local Coles store in Bateau Bay, NSW.
Says Coles Bateau Bay store manager Ben Earle: ‘It was truly heart-warming to see the van Genderen family’s creativity and the effort to create their at-home Coles supermarket for their mum who can’t make it to our store at the moment.
'We’ve got some Coles goodies on the way, to help complete their mini Coles set up.’
Head here to watch the video - you won't regret it. Our favourite bit? When Jason's little boy Arty - who's also the cashier! - says: 'Have a good day, Madam!' But a warning - you’ll need some tissues handy!
