1 cup finely chopped dried soft and juicy figs
100 g finely chopped dark chocolate
½ cup finely chopped blanched almonds
2 tbsp caster sugar
12 sheet filo pastry sheet
2 tbsp butter, melted
cocoa powder, sifted, to decorate
- Combine figs, dark chocolate, blanched almonds and sugar in a bowl.
- Brush one sheet of filo pastry with a little melted butter. Fold in half. Brush again. Place 2 tbsp fig mixture across one end. Roll up to the end, folding in sides to enclose filling. Repeat to make 12 cigars.
- Place 2cm apart on a lined oven tray. Brush with egg. Cook in a moderately hot oven (190C) for about 25 minutes, or until golden brown. Dust with sifted cocoa.
