ROOFTOP CINEMA CLUB AT NEUEHOUSE
Look, you’re in a city that is home to some of the greatest stars to grace our screens, why not stop by to watch a film?
Don’t expect just a regular movie experience, though. You’ll find comfort in the outdoor cinema by being seated on a deckchair, having access to a staffed bar and avoiding hearing the sound of crunching popcorn because of each customer is given wireless headphones. Maybe you truly can have a date with the likes of Brad Pitt and John Travolta – depending on the movie that’s showing!
GHOST TOUR
Accompanied by a local, you can head Down Town to explore the history of the city of angels – communing with the ghosts that haunt the streets over a 2-hour guided walking tour. Sure the sun is always shining in LA, but it does not mean you can’t delve into the dark secrets of its past, from infamous murders, unsolved crimes and baffling mysteries.

MUSEUM OF DEATH
If you’re one for true crime podcasts, this eerie museum will keep you occupied – if you happen to get through the whole tour without fainting, that is! Walking through the museum, you’ll find artefacts linked to highly publicised serial killers, including Charles Manson (his prison jumpsuit), John Wayne Gacy (clown shoes) and Heaven’s Gate Cult (outfits and trainers). WARNING: it’s not for the faint-hearted, but the gift store is worth a visit, especially for the mummified rats. See museumofdeath.net.
DOUGHNUT STOP
Nothing says Hollywood like a dessert place made famous by a star who has put their name to it. So when Machete’s Danny Trejo opened up his doughnut shop Trejo’s Coffee & Donuts last year, we did not hesitate to stop by.
If you’re not interested in A-List affiliation, perhaps the fact that the store sells 60,000 delicious sugary treats per day – in
30 different flavours – might tantalise your tastebuds.
And, if the special Maple Pig (doughnut laced in maple syrup, vanilla, brown sugar and topped with candied bacon pieces) was anything to go by, you’d want to have one in store and take a box back to your hotel.
In true LA form, there’s a range of vegan options, including Vegan Coco Loco, which as the name suggests is made of vegan chocolate.
