A bamboozling coffee puzzle has gone viral on Twitter after user Purp shared this photo, saying ‘let’s see who’s [sic] brain works…’
Let’s see who’s brain works ???? who gets coffee first ? ???????? pic.twitter.com/CqCtIeKVsJ

At first glance, it seems fairly obvious.
‘4… 9… 7… 5 in that order,’ insisted the first commenter. We can understand where they’re coming from, surely the cup at the end of the shortest pipe would be the first to get coffee.
They weren’t the only one to reason it out like that.
‘Isn't it 9, 4, 7, 5? (9 first because the distance between the tubes are much shorter than 4.),’ explained another.
But when Purp kept replying ‘nope’ it soon became clear there was a lot more to the story. If you haven’t noticed already, some cups are doomed to remain empty.
‘9 - But it just wouldn’t be very much coffee,’ reasoned another commenter, clearly with their priorities in order.
Have you figured it out yet?
Soon the answer became clear that it really only could be one person getting served coffee.
’It was my feel stupid moment of they day lol,’ laughed one user.
Thank goodness this Twit was on hand to draw us a diagram!
Are you ready for the answer? Ok, keep scrolling to find out.

Number 5 is the only cup that will receive coffee because the other three pipes are blocked off.
Did you get it? It’s okay, we struggled too – probably because we haven’t had our coffee yet. But one thing we do know for sure is that if our barista pulled any of this nonsense we’d be out of there.
