We’re in the thick of holiday season, which means many of us are hitting the road for trips with the family.
So keeping an eye out for cheap petrol is a must for many, saving supermarket dockets and tracking down the best deals around.
Well it looks like one Aussie bargain hunter got the bargain of the year, receiving the shock of her life when she scored 41 litres of petrol for just $4. The lucky shopper shared her amazing purchase with the amazing Markdown Addicts Australia Facebook group, providing a receipt as proof.
It appears that the service station in question - United at Altona North, Victoria - keyed in the wrong price at the bowser by mistake, so the price per litre came up as 0.115 instead of 1.15. And while the shopper pointed out the error the cashier, the service station were happy to let it slide with the customer as they were in the wrong - spreading some fabulous Christmas cheer!
‘I would like to clarify that my actions were not immoral - I made a comment to the shop assistant about the price, all he said back was “Merry Christmas”,’ the bargain hunter revealed. ‘He knew what the price of the fuel was.
‘It was not illegal as I paid the price that was displayed on the petrol bowser.’
Many fellow Markdown Addicts followers praised the shopper for her find.
Said one: ‘Fuel stations have been ripping us off for months with the price staying so high against the price of oil. I would have walked away as well and then got everyone else I knew to go and fill up there too.’
Added another: ‘You win bargain of the year I’m jelly! Good on you ! 😀’ And one more: You've got my nomination for bargain of the year 😊 Well done 👏 And another: ‘Wow he made your day !!
