I’m A Celebrity‘s Angie Kent has revealed her teenage struggle with bulimia which almost saw her hospitalised.

Speaking to campmate Richard Reid on Monday night, the Gogglebox star opened up about living with a “dreadful eating disorder” and admitted she has only come to terms with the experience in the last three years.

Angie, 29, told her co-star doctors had warned they would send her to a treatment facility if she didn’t start eating and revealed she once survived on little more than salad.

“My dad still doesn’t know – my mum knows now though,” she told Richard.

Angie revealed she felt judged and misunderstood during the height of her illness, saying: “People think you’re doing it for attention – they think you can snap out of it.”

“It’s so sad because its like an addiction.”

The blonde beauty explained she started restricting her food because of problems with her skin and admitted that for her, it was more about “having control” than wanting to become thinner.

Reality star Angie admitted she still struggles with negative thoughts about food but finds meditation a useful coping mechanism.

Angie’s candid admission comes just days after her former Gogglebox co-star and current campmate Yvie Jones made an impassioned speech about body positivity when she refused to take part in the annual jungle weigh-in.

Yvie, who also suffered with an eating disorder in the past, moved viewers to tears with her powerful message.
