It’s one of Australia’s favourite family supermarket meals - a big, juicy hot chook for under $10.
But did you know that if Coles don’t have any left on display, you’re entitled to a FREE one next time you’re in store?
A savvy shopper at the awesome Markdown Addicts Australia Facebook group noticed the fine print on the hot chook display at her local Coles - something that many customers have probably missed over the years.
The sign reads: ‘Our Promise: If you’ve missed our on a Coles hot roast chicken from 11am to close, your next one is FREE.’
That’s right. If you spot an empty display, it’s Coles policy to give you a FREE chook on your next visit - you simply just have to visit the deli or service desk, and receive a voucher to claim the deal.
‘How have I never noticed that before?!’ said one Coles shopper. Noted another: ‘I must walk past the Coles hot chook display every time I’m in store - and I’ve never noticed this! How?!’
However many of the experienced shoppers on the Markdown Addicts Australia Facebook page say that some stores don’t even display the sign, meaning some customers don’t know about it and Coles don’t have to honour it.
Said one: ‘My local in Perth didn’t have any the other eve and I asked she said they don’t honour it anymore.’
But another encouraged others to talk to Coles staff and be aware of the policy.
Said the Markdown Addicts Australia member: ‘Yeah if there’s not any there. Go see the manager or the deli staff.’
Good to know. So next time you’re in Coles, keep an eye out for the sticker ... especially if there are no hot chooks on display. You could be in for a free dinner!
