‘I got a few things and went to the self checkout with my purchases, next thing I know the mark-down guy was standing next to me and offered me this wonderful packet of T-bones, saying he had just marked it down and thought I would want it.
‘I was all “hell yeah!!” Excellent man!’
She added: ‘I love it too, and he told me when he'd be back, so i'll go check out what he's got on Friday!’
Excellent man is right! The story got the tick of approval from the other Markdown Addicts, who all agreed that it ‘pays to be polite!’
‘That’s lovely,’ wrote one. Said another: ‘Well done, bargain!’
Said a third: ‘I love it when they are friendly, but once I got a filthy side eye off a Woolies markdown lady!’
Woah. Moral of the story? If you see a Coles or Woolies employee doing markdowns, put on a smile and be extra polite - it just might land you an A-grade markdown!
