Karl Stefanovic claims his Instagram account has been hacked.

The former Today show host revealed that he alerted authorities after his account liked several comments criticising the new Today line-up.

“Whilst I was out fishing my Instagram account has been hacked. I am investigating this with the authorities and will be back soon. Karlos,” he posted with a picture of him on a boat.

The comments the 44-year-old allegedly ‘liked’ were on a post announcing Deborah Knight as his replacement.

“Won’t be watching. Well, Miss Gardiner [sic] got her way. Pathetic, smile, agree and laugh. It’s all they do,” read one of the comments.

Another comment that Stefanovic’s account appeared to have liked said, “Channel [Nine], the audience want answers.

Nine’s new director for morning TV, Steven Burling revealed why Deborah was the perfect person for the job – and it has nothing to do with gender or ‘making a statement.’

‘We didn’t think it was a statement, we didn’t think it was time to have a female duo hosting Today,’  Burling told The Sydney Morning Herald, before explaining that simply, Deborah and Georgie Gardner make an excellent team.

‘The rationale for us for two female hosts is simply having the two most capable people at the desk as part of our core team.
