There’s no denying that the Princess of Wales is the royal family’s resident pacifist.
The 41-year-old mum of three is famous for being their safe pair of hands in even the trickiest times – not least when it comes to soothing tensions between Prince Harry and the rest of the family.

However, a former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond now says Kate hit her breaking point after being “hurt and insulted” by what Harry and Meghan said about her family in the Netflix documentary about the book Spare.
Bond described how Prince William and Kate had attempted to heal the rift at Prince Philip‘s funeral in April 2021, but after a “blazing row” it became clear it wasn’t possible. Since then, the Princess of Wales has reportedly moved on from trying to bring the brothers together again.
“There comes a point when you just have to accept that happy families are not a game that everyone can play,” Bond told OK! Magazine recently.
“Catherine has been hurt and insulted by things that Harry and Meghan have said, but she and William are a very strong team, and I suspect that, together, they’ve come to the conclusion that the rift with Harry cannot be fixed in the foreseeable future.
“They’ve closed their minds to that possibility and decided to get on with their lives.”
Earlier this year sources told US publication The Daily Beast that her husband, the Prince of Wales, is nowhere near ready to forgive his younger brother for several years’ worth of slights, but in the past Kate urged him to look to the future.
Kate took centre stage a Balmoral Castle summer summit, where King Charles tried to put a long list of Mountbatten-Windsor issues to rest – including what to do about their ongoing faction with Harry, and his wife Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex.
“It’s been a year since the Queen passed, and it’s more than overdue that they work on healing this terrible rift,” says our insider.
“It’s what she would have wanted and Charles is reminding people of that. William is still angry though, and struggles with the idea of making any concessions towards Harry.
“Kate believes there’s no way they can fix things until the two brothers get in the same room and air out their grievances to each other. It’s the only way,” says the source. “There can be no healing without Harry’s presence.”
Earlier this month, New Idea was told that Kate has been “urging” Charles to extend Harry an invite to his Scottish Highlands estate as the family gathered to mark one year since the Queen’s passing, before he was due to depart the UK and head to Dusseldorf to launch the latest Invictus Games on September 9.
“There’s something poignant about Kate pushing for a reunion between the boys on the anniversary of Her Majesty’s death, in the same place in which they all said goodbye to her,” a separate source revealed.
The first insider added: “Kate’s having to walk a fine line between loyalty to the Crown and her husband, but she’s getting William used to the inevitable – he needs a face-to-face with Harry.
“She’s very canny, suggesting Balmoral as the place to go for peace talks. The brothers are more likely to be calm and rational surrounded by memories of their grandmother.”
However, from the latest updates, it appears Kate is moving on from trying to heal the rift between the Royal brothers.
