The four female stars of Sex and the City have spent the better part of 20 years shooting down rumours of feuds and tensions among each other, but it seems one of the actresses is over that game.
Kim Cattrall, who plays Samantha on the hit series, sat down with Piers Morgan for a taping of his ITV show, Life Stories.
An audience member has since come forward saying the actress denied having shut down production of a third Sex and the City movie with her over-the-top demands.
The interview comes just days after Sarah Jessica-Parker, who plays the shows lead Carrie, confirmed the studio was forced to shut down production just a few weeks before principle photography was set to begin, saying she was ‘disappointed’ by the news.
That move did not sit well with Cattrall however, who said she has been saying no to the project for the past year, and never once suggested she would be on board if the film went ahead.
Cattrall said, ‘And now, now at this very moment it’s quite extraordinary to get any kind of negative press about something that I’ve been saying for almost a year of ‘no’, that I’m demanding or a diva.’
‘And this is really where I take to task the people from Sex and the City and specifically Sarah Jessica-Parker in that I think she could have been nicer,’ she continued.
Later in the interview Cattrall reiterated, ‘I really think she could have been nicer. I don’t know what her issue is, I never have.’
Cattrall then addressed specific allegations regarding her ‘diva’ demands, ‘I never asked for any money, I never asked for any projects, to be thought of as some kind of diva is absolutely ridiculous.’
Speaking to Extra! Sarah Jessica-Parker said, ‘It’s over…we’re not doing it. I’m disappointed. We had this beautiful, funny, heartbreaking, joyful, very relatable script and story.’
She went on to say, ‘It’s not just disappointing that we don’t get to tell the story and have that experience, but more so for that audience that has been so vocal in wanting another movie.’
