Sharing on the fabulous Kmart Hacks & Decor Facebook page, member Iryna shared her absolutely stunning garage transformation using products from Kmart, Big W, Bunnings, IKEA and more.
Forget ugly work benches and buckets of old shoes, Iryna and her hubby have created a stunning blue and white Hamptons feel garage that belongs in the pages of any design magazine.
Says Iryna: ‘We enter our house through the garage and don't wear shoes inside so all of our stuff is left here. (Guests come in through the front door but we just park in here so use this door primarily).
‘Hubby does not care what the garage looks like as long as it is practical and he can find all of his stuff, which he obviously can 😂.’
Explaining that the cupboards are a mix of Ikea, Bunnings and DIY, while the other various homewares came from Kmart, Big W, Catch and Early Settler.
Writes Iryna: ‘My hubby did not build the cupboard, it was a mix of a custom build and DIY. We looked up Ikea cabinets and the price to have it custom done and go all the way up to the wall was actually cheaper. I measured it all up, designed it and we had a cabinet maker build it and we did the finishing touches. It is made out of melamine and MDF (not including the doors, they're vinyl wrapped) so the materials were pretty cheap and are durable.
‘The tool wall is the flexi storage system from Bunnings. I drew it up, planned it out and we put it up with a retractable bracket from ebay and a piece of scrap timber from Bunnings.
‘Wire baskets and pen holders are from Kmart, big baskers are from Big W, hooks are from early settler, seat cushion is some fabric stapled to MDF and filled with old pillows. Rug is from Catch, cushions are from Thread Candy.’
It wasn’t long before Iryna’s post went viral with more than 7,000 likes and comments.
