Another shopper was inside Kmart as the water hit, sharing a photo on the Kmart Hacks & Decor Facebook page of the rivers of water on the ground and water still gushing from light fittings and windows.
‘Our Kmart store 😲 There are a few videos of water pouring through light fittings & the front window was turned into a water feature,’ writes shopper Alison.
Adds another onlooker: ‘Most of the shopping centre was able deep in water.’ Says one more: ‘Kmart was underwater, crazy stuff. Need a boat to shop at Kmart it seems.’ Added another: ‘The whole centre was evacuated as ceiling came down in ok be store. Water was pouring through light fittings through the shopping centre.’
The shocking scenes shocked many Kmart shoppers on Facebook.
Writes one: ‘You know what amazes me? People will stand in a pool of water filming things while there are lights with water pouring out near them. Seems they aren't scared of dying.’
Added another: ‘I can’t believe this.’
But while many pondered whether the water damaged stock would be sold off on sale, others weren’t so sure.
‘They can't sell damaged stock as it is a consumer protection issues, it could hurt someone or make people sick,’ said one.
