Describing her tecnique, Carol says: ‘Pour your favourite gravy into an ice cube tray and freeze till solid. Make mashed potato by boiling peeled potatoes with a small peeled onion till soft. Drain and mash well with potatoes masher or ricer. Add salt and pepper, sour cream and a whisked egg. Chill several hours or overnight till very cold.
‘With clean hands take a small handful of cold mashed potato and place one iced cube of gravy in the middle, form a ball and roll in a mixture of panko crumbs and grated parmesan cheese. Place in pie maker close lid and cook till golden brown about 5-7 mins.’
Genius! And just look at that gravy lava filling! Now surprisingly, the ‘Mashies’ got the big tick of approval from the group’s other members who showered Carol with praise.
Said one: ‘Good God. I think I died and went to mash and gravy heaven. This looks awesome.’ Added another: ‘I need this in my life.’
Said a third: ‘omg aaaahhhhmazing!!!’
