But now it’s not just their homes, it’s their bodies as well. Those who’ve taken the plunge into getting their favourite cookware patterns tattooed onto themselves say it’s about nostalgia.
Becky Matheson, a tattoo artist in Nova Scotia, recently told the Los Angeles Times that she got a design of a hen sitting in a Pyrex teacup because it reminded her of her grandparents.
Another got a CorningWare pattern on her leg because it reminded her of her mum, while another got a set of flower-covered cookware bowls inked onto her arm as a reminder of when foods were cooked from scratch.
Now it seems the trend is taking off, with many more following the lead and getting CorningWare’s famous blue and white pattern tattooed on their bodies as a tribute to their grandparents and parents.
‘Every time I look at it, I think of my mum,’ said one devotee.
