I was just at the checkouts at the new Woolworths in Gregory Hills (NSW) and was given this by an employee,’ Alana wrote.
Posting that the free gift card was ‘for no reason, she just said to have a good day ... I was child free so I thought I looked more relaxed then usual but maybe not 😂.’
She added: ‘Made my day 😊’
The lovely deed was applauded by the other Markdown Addicts members - with many recounting other random acts of kindness at their local Woolies.
Said one: ‘A store manager once approached my mate and his kids in the checkout line and said woolies would like to pay for this shop for you.’
Added another: ‘Fantastic! I got one a little while back when walking around in the store. Was very handy!’
Said a third: ‘My Woolies does this usually around Christmas, Easter and they just give to random people. I have been given fresh flowers too, no reason just the manager likes to treat people.’
Awww love this! Woolworths has confirmed to New Idea Food that it was indeed a random act of kindness - just in time for Easter!
'Our purpose is to bring a little good to everyone everyday, and our store teams have been surprising our customers and the local community at Easter with random acts of kindness for a number of years,' a Woolworths spokesperson revealed.
'During this busy time of year, Woolworths team members always look to make a small difference to those shopping with us.
'We just love seeing the smiles and joy that it brings to our customers and the communities we operate in.'
