Masterhef winner Adam Liaw’s latest cooking hack will change the way you make sausage sizzles forever.
Sharing on Twitter, the acclaimed chef and cookbook writer revealed his simple trick to adding a layer of crispy cheese to the iconic Aussie snack - and we can’t help but hope that Bunnings are paying attention, because it sounds yum!
Watch how Adam makes his 'Golden Cheese Sausage Sandwich' here:
Writes Adam: ‘What if I told you that you could add crisp, golden cheese to a sausage-in-bread just by frying a slice of ordinary tasty cheese directly on a barbecue and putting a slice of bread on top of it?’
In a video showing the technique, Adam starts by placing a simple slice of cheese - the same size as a slice of bread - into a frypan. He then places the bread on top and leaves it to cook away until the cheese is golden and crispy.
He then places the bread cheese-side-up onto a bench, places the cooked sausage, onion and sauce on top and then folds it as usual.
Adam adds: ‘I call it the Golden Cheese Sausage Sandwich. You do not have to pay me any royalties when you make it. It is my gift to you.’
And what a gift it is! The hack has already gone viral, with thousands loving it.
‘This may be your greatest gift to humanity,’ said one fan. Added another: ‘Adam makes a push for the Australia Day honours list.’
Said a third: ‘Those poor buggers at Bunnings will be inundated with this request now.’ Fact!
