Made from eggs and oil, mayonnaise helps elevate any cake, providing moist deliciousness and offsetting its acidity to create a sweetness that enhances any cake’s flavour. 

Heinz has created a full recipe to showcase exactly how to make this mouth-watering chocolate cake, with mayonnaise as the secret ingredient – sure to be your new favourite.

Method

1.

Preheat oven to 180°C. Mix the cocoa, hot water and vanilla essence together in a jug and wait till cool.

2.

Sift the flour, baking soda and sugar in a bowl and make a well in the centre.

3.

Combine the HEINZ [SERIOUSLY] GOOD™ Mayonnaise with the cocoa mixture and then pour in the well of dry ingredients. Mix together gently.

4.

Pour mixture into a well greased and lined 20cm round cake tin.

5.

Bake for 35-40 minutes or until cake is cooked. Cool in the tin for 10 minutes before turning out onto a cake rack.

6.

When cooled, ice with your favourite chocolate icing and easter decorations!
