This is interesting.

McDonald’s has introduced a new plan to encourage families to have quality bonding time together while they eat at the fast-food chain.

The restaurant has introduced phone lockers, called ‘Phone off, Fun on’, to one of its chains in Singapore. The lockers aim to encourage people to put away their mobiles and ‘unlock hours of fantastic fun for your entire family.’

The new initiative, one of the first of its kind, is the result of a recent survey conducted by McDonald’s last month. The survey found 98 per cent of parents and 91 per cent of children use their mobile devices whenever they are together, with more than two-thirds of respondents using their smartphones during mealtimes.

Each locker is designed to hold 100 mobile phones, but social media users have been quick to joke that McDonald’s might have been a little too ambitious.

One user posted the below photo and captioned: ‘Will you ever see 1 phone in da box?’

Another customer said that his family made a concerted effort to out away their phones, but ‘failed within five minutes.’
