When Meghan Markle married Prince Harry, she said goodbye to her life in the US for a new beginning as part of the British royal family.

But as anyone who has moved away from home will agree, there are always some things that you get homesick for.

Having moved to Frogmore Cottage in April with her husband, ahead of the birth of baby Archie, the Duchess of Sussex would have been pleased to spot something very familiar in the gardens of Frogmore House, which is just a short walk away.

Two giant redwoods flourish in the gardens — and the magnificent trees are synonymous with Meghan’s home state of California.

The close proximity of the trees to the royal residence will give Meghan, 37, something of her California roots to share with her son as he grows up.

The nearby reminder of home will no doubt prove comforting to the Duchess, whose mother Doria Ragland stayed with the family when Archie was first born.

Doria lives in California, and Meghan is her only child.

Her marriage to Meghan’s father, Thomas Markle, broke down when her daughter was six years old.
